X platform source Bionic Squash recently broke the news that the Intel Arrow Lake-U (ARL-U) processor will be launched as a cheaper alternative to Lunar Lake (LNL) with Intel 3 process-based computing (CPU) modules.
The source also claims that Arrow Lake-U is essentially unchanged in terms of microarchitecture from the released Meteor Lake-U, and that performance per watt is expected to increase by about 10% under multi-core loads due to process improvements.
According to Tom’s Hardware, the CPU portion of Lunar Lake will use an external TSMC N3B process. According to the current rumor, Arrow Lake-U adopts the internal Intel 3 process is expected to reduce the manufacturing cost.
Intel has already made it clear at CES 2024 that the Lunar Lake mobile processor will launch this year. As for the Arrow Lake launch plan is a bit complicated, according to the current summary of the news, it is expected that the desktop platform will be launched this year, the mobile platform is next year.
Bionic Squash revealed that the Arrow Lake-H, Arrow Lake-HX, and Arrow Lake-U mobile processors will all launch at CES 2025 next year, with the Arrow Lake-H and Arrow Lake-HX using TSMC’s N3B process, and the Arrow Lake-U being an Intel 3 process.
According to previous official Intel press releases, products known to be using the Intel 3 process also include the Intel Sierra Forest and Granite Rapids Xeon processors.
