Who it’s for: People who want a fast, secure Android phone with the best camera and guaranteed software updates, but don’t want to spend a thousand dollars.
WHY WE LIKE IT: The Google Pixel 7 offers the high-quality software and camera that make Google’s Pixel phones great, and it’s only $600. The phone comes with Google’s clean, responsive version of Android 13 and is guaranteed to get an update by fall 2027.The Pixel 7 features a dual-camera setup that takes better photos than almost any other Android phone.
While it only has two camera lenses, Google’s amazing photo processing technology is almost magical. It uses True Tone technology to accurately render darker skin tones, which can be a problem on other phones, and the Pixel Camera app offers the option to adjust exposure and color temperature in real time in the viewfinder. The Pixel 7 also features Google’s Magic Eraser feature, which removes distractions and unwanted background objects from your photos. The Pixel 7 boasts a near-edge 6.34 inch OLED screen for outdoor use and also has an ultra-low brightness feature that makes the brightness more comfortable for the eyes in dark rooms. There’s also an optical fingerprint scanner underneath the screen; not as fast or accurate as Samsung’s ultrasonic sensor, but much better than the Pixel 6a or last year’s Pixel 6.
Cons but not fatal: We don’t find many cons in the Google Pixel 7, especially considering its price – we don’t expect to see most of the “missing” features on a $600 phone. We’d like to see it charge faster; at best, it’s less than half-charged in 30 minutes!
